Some of the fondest memories from my childhood were throwing
all of us kids in the back of a station wagon and heading north for
our summer vacation. We were either fishing, swimming or fighting!
The fishing was the best. There were times we had a dozen kids on a
dock and managed to keep hooks in the head to a minimum! We'd
spend all day fishing for bluegills, sunfish, perch, and crappies. Ah, the
memories... I will treasure them always. We learned on cane poles with
a bobber and a worm.
Mom and dad spent most of their time untangling line, taking off fish, putting on
worms and making sure we did'nt fall in the drink. Fortunately dad made time to make his movies
so we'd have the memories to treasure forever.
When one of us kids got a bite on our line it was all excitement and even more so
when everyone saw that fish coming out of the water.
So what are you waiting for, take a kid fishing! These experiences can last a life time.
Make a Picket Fish!
Find an old picket fence, chop it up, and go wild with a paint brush.
Here's a great way to spend some quality time with family. Take a ride in the country and find
someone selling treasures. They're bound to have some old picket fencing. Collect stones for eyeballs
and old twigs for embellishments. To make a mobile, find an old fishing pole or a stick for the top
piece and hang all the fish from it at different lengths with fishing line or string. Add lures
coming out of the mouths, either real or made from beads.
